4       Independence Day Celebrations with fire works over the Neuse River
JULY 4TH WEEKEND EXTRAVAGANZA
Don’t miss New Bern’s 2010 Fourth of July holiday! There’s something for everyone. In addition to the array of programs available at Tryon Palace and the family fun activities at Union Point Park, there are new and exciting things in store. Union Point Park is the location for 2 fantastic concerts on Saturday, July 3rd. At 4:30 pm, the Rhythm and Blues and Funk band, Peace and Love, will put everyone in a dancing mood, to be followed at 7:00 pm by headliner, Jackie Gore and his new band, Legends of Beach. If you love beach music and a great rhythm sound, this is the place to be. Best of all, both concerts, sponsored by Bank of America, are free and open to the public. Bring lawn chairs and beach towels and prepare for a good time.

The festivities on Sunday, July 4th will kick off with the World’s Largest Barbeque Bun presented by Moore’s Barbeque of New Bern. A contender for the Guinness Book of World Records, this barbeque bun is like no other and will feed an appreciative crowd. This will be New Bern’s second Guinness Record and it is hoped that the World’s Longest Married Couple from New Bern will be present to enjoy it.

From 7:00-8:00 pm, prepare to be wowed by New Bern’s First Air Show. Led by local aerobatic star, Hubie Tolson, the Air Show will be a one of a kind experience featuring:
·   3 Time Spanish National Aerobatic Champion, Cástor Fantoba
·   2007 World Air Show Champion, Zach Heffley
·   3 Time US Aerobatic Team Member, Goody Thomas
·   2 Time US Aerobatic Team Member, Hubie Tolson
·   Amazing Steerman Bi-plane Wing Walking Act, Jane Wicker
·   Red Bull Professional Air Show Announcer, Mike Gallaway
·   Sky Diving Expert, Laurie Ross
